The Department of English has the same year of inception as the R.S.R Govt. degree College, Barkot, Uttarkashi(1993). We provide intensive mentoring to our students both within and beyond the classroom by encouraging them to participate in various activities regularly held under the aegis of the English Departmental Association. The department that started with a handful of students has now grown manifold, with the number of students being enrolled increasing consequentially with the commencement of each new academic term. Although, the syllabus in U.G. programs comprises intensive study of English Literature, we understand that the importance of communication skills and fluency in English speaking cannot be ignored in the contemporary world, therefore our department also aims to equip our students with an excellent command over the English language by honing their communication skills and spoken English. The Department caters to the needs of students hailing from remotely located villages with regards to their exposure to the ever developing advanced teaching and learning methodologies by introducing them to various creative and efficient subject learning techniques
